Following the program we would like for CORI members and friends to take Ms. Goodes out to dinner. The next Cornucopia of RI meeting will be held in January 2011. Please note that the December holiday dinner meeting scheduled for December 2 at the Four Seasons Restaurant has been canceled and rescheduled for sometime in January.

From 95 North

Take Exit 28 (School Street) and turn left off exit ramp; follow the road straight through the light and bear left at the fork. Turn right on the Main Street Bridge over the Blackstone River and take a right at the second set of lights to High Street. The library is at the top of the hill on the corner of High and Summer Streets. Bear left onto Summer Street to get to the main entrance and parking lot of the library.

From 95 South

Take exit 29 (Downtown Pawtucket), turn right on Fountain Street, right on Exchange Street, and take left on High Street at second set of lights. Library is on the corner of High and Summer Streets.

This year Cornucopia’s mini conference highlights the Rhode Island Hispanic community. Based on the 2010 United States census, Hispanics will have a profound effect on the state of Rhode Island. Are libraries ready to meet the challenges and needs of our new communities?

Keynote Speakers:

María Méndez García, Librarian, International Charter School, Pawtucket, RI

Ms. Méndez García, will discuss Hispanic Children's Literature (purchasing, significant booklists, resources, etc.) and share her expertise of working with the Hispanic community and meeting the needs of the children and their non-English speaking parents.

Eugene Jeffers, Adult Programming Information & Community Relations Librarian, Pawtucket, RI

Mr. Jeffers will be sharing a strategic plan that was implemented at the Pawtucket Public Library and discuss how the library reached out and met the needs of the Hispanic community within their area.
