AAHSL: Leadership Diversity Scholarships

The Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries (AAHSL) Future Leadership Committee is pleased to announce the availability of Leadership Diversity Scholarships for 2023. Two (2) scholarships with funding up to $1,500 each are available to support career development opportunities for persons from diverse and under-represented racial and ethnic backgrounds who are interested in leadership roles at all levels in academic health sciences libraries. The scholarships are also intended to increase the diversity of leaders in health sciences libraries, strengthen the profession’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity, and develop a more diverse pool of new and emerging library leaders.

Scholarship awards may be used for participation in established education programs related to leadership such as the MLA CE course exploring becoming a director or for other leadership opportunities offered by professional associations, institutions / organizations, or educational entities. (Note: the MLA CE course on becoming a library director is not offered every year; check the MLA schedule of CE offerings for further information). 

Applications are being accepted starting on Monday, March 13th with a submission deadline of Friday, May 19th. Candidates should be employed in a professional level library position in any king of library including academic, health sciences, special, corporate, or other library setting and have an MLA or comparable graduate degree. Candidates should have 3-5 years of experience in a professional library position and be interested in pursuing leadership roles in an academic health sciences library.
